Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. Thanks for your feedback. Then I tried to check the Developer tab but it failed again. The subtabs all are dimmed to show they are disabled. I’m assuming the developer tab can be selected but since all subtabs are disabled nothing is then displayed. Still guessing as it seems nothing works. My Windows 10 computer with Office works just fine.

Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. I have a current version of Office Excel running on my Windows 8.

It does not show the developer tab and checking the “Developer” on customize ribbon and clicking OK fails to display Developer. This seems as if it could be a security item I’ve enabled but for about a month off and on I’ve attempted to do various work arounds to get the developer tab to display. Whenever I search for a solution on google every “fix” merely tells me how to check the deveopers tab on the options, customize ribbon, developer tab.

Why won’t the tab show? This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question 5. Report abuse. Details required :. Cancel Submit.

Press Windows key, hold it and press r to open Run window. Type appwiz. Let me know the outcome. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to V. Arya’s post on February 29, Followed your directions fully and expected it to correct my problem. I had not tried to fix Office during my attempts to fix it. However, it failed. I get no error and notification that my update worked.

It just doesn’t work. There is a possibility that an Add-in is creating problems. If you don’t face the issue, then one of the add-ins will be the culprit. Now you can start application normally and you can disable all of them File — Options — Add-ins and enable them one by one and check to catch the culprit add-in. Arya’s post on March 1, Uninstalled, Shutdown and reinstalled but no help. On restart the Office didn’t show up in the control panel but i started after a find Excel and there was no change.
